Buderim

Buderim takes its name from the local Kabi Kabi aboriginal word for the coastal bottlebrush - Budderum (or Badderam) - which grows on the open land near the sea. Buderim town sits on Buderim Mountain overlooking Queensland's Sunshine Coast. It is a fertile place covered in rich red soil that has given rise to the farming of sugar cane, bananas, coffee and ginger. For a while Buderim had the largest ginger factory in the Southern Hemisphere and now Buderim Ginger is a worldwide household name.
